Paint Me Empowered is dedicated to inspiring and uplifting young Black girls aged 8-13 through the power of public art. Our mission is to create spaces where Black girls thrive, unlocking their potential and instilling in them a sense of confidence, self-expression, and purpose.
This year, we are thrilled to bring our empowering event to the vibrant city of Oakland, Saturday, August 12, 2023 11AM-3PM. The day will be filled with engaging workshops, hands-on art activities, and interactive sessions led by experienced art teachers and talented artists who are passionate about empowering the next generation.
We are proud to announce our partnership with the Department of Violence Prevention, who has generously provided us with a mini healing grant to help fund this event. This collaboration highlights our shared commitment to nurturing resilience, healing, and positive change within our community.
Through our cross-curricular approach, we aim to bridge art with subjects like math, writing, and creative problem-solving, providing a holistic learning experience for our young participants. They will be able to express themselves artistically while learning valuable skills and exploring their unique voices.
We believe in the healing power of community, and Paint Me Empowered is not just an event—it’s a movement. Together, we can create positive change in our neglected communities, celebrate the rich diversity of Oakland, and foster an environment where young Black girls feel empowered, encouraged, and supported.
