Embracing Equity in Our Collaborations and Community
Working Together for Greater Impact
International Women’s Day (IWD) is an important day of celebration and reflection for SousSHE. As a women-led initiative, we are proud to stand with women across the globe to recognize the achievements of women and the work that still needs to be done to achieve gender equity.
At SousSHE, collaboration and community involvement are essential to creating a more just and equitable world. We are committed to working with other organizations and individuals who share our mission of empowering young Black girls and women. Through our partnerships, we provide resources, mentorship, and opportunities for growth and development.

Connecting and Empowering Women and Girls

This year’s IWD theme, #EmbraceEquity, aligns with our mission and vision for the future. By embracing equity, we can create a world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. We work towards this vision by empowering and uplifting young Black girls and women through our projects, including Sis Let’s Do Brunch and Paint Me Empowered.
Our Mission for the Future
We are committed to continuing our work to create a more just and equitable world. Investing in our girls and young women can create a brighter future for all. We invite you to join us in this mission by supporting our work, volunteering your time, and advocating for gender equity in your communities. #EMBRACEEQUITY

On this International Women’s Day, let us come together as a community to celebrate the achievements of women, recognize the work that still needs to be done, and commit ourselves to create a more just and equitable world for all women.

We are creating a supportive environment for girls to thrive.
Paint Me Empowered is one of our favorite activities to do in the community. We invite little Black Girls into a setting to feel empowered, encouraged and brag a little bit about themselves. In May 2023, we’re hosting Paint Me Empowered in East Oakland with new artists and over 50 young girls.
This upcoming project taps into the community healing framework and incorporates it into what communities are in or may want to do to promote community healing.
We are honored to work with FIVE AMAZING artists and engage FIFTY BLACK GIRLS from East Oakland in healing by creating an outlet to develop problem-solving skills, engage them intellectually, and foster creativity to bolster confidence.
More details to follow. Stay tuned!!
