Sis, Let's Talk Surrender
The Power of Surrender
Sis, Let’s Talks Surrender was an intentional space designed to empower Black women to embrace the art of letting go. Held at the Wellness, Empowerment & Resiliency Campus, this transformative evening brought women together to reflect on their personal journeys, release emotional burdens, and renew their commitment to self-care and well-being.
It wasn’t easy—healing never is—but it was a night of profound transformation, where we discovered the beauty and power in releasing the burdens that no longer serve us.
Finding the Courage to Let Go
For many of us, surrender feels like an impossible task. How do you let go when holding on feels like survival? But as we settled into the evening, surrounded by love and sisterhood, we realized surrender isn’t about giving up—it’s about setting yourself free. Some of us came seeking guidance, carrying the weight of past hurts, fears, and unspoken pain. We were searching for answers, for a way to lay it all down and make space for peace.
An Interactive and Transformative Experience
Guided by thoughtful journaling prompts, we put pen to paper and poured our hearts out.
- What am I holding onto that is no longer serving me?
- What does surrender look like in my life?
- How can I create space for peace and joy?
Sisters shared their reflections and some of the heaviness they came in with. For many, the circle was a much-needed reminder that they are not alone in their struggles and that community healing is a powerful tool.
Sis, Let’s Talk Surrender wasn’t just about letting go—it was about filling the space created with love and support. The evening included heartfelt conversations, moments of laughter, and a shared meal that further deepened the connections formed during the event. The affirmation of sisterhood was evident as women shared their stories, encouraged one another, and left with a renewed sense of purpose and community.
A Celebration of Sisterhood
The act of release wasn’t just physical—it was spiritual. It was as if we were saying to ourselves, You deserve this. You deserve to be whole. What made the evening truly magical was the community we built in that space. We weren’t just letting go—we were pouring love back in. As stories were shared, hugs exchanged, and affirmations spoken, we reminded each other that healing isn’t a solitary journey. It’s a collective act of bravery, one we take together.
Looking Ahead
The work isn’t done, but this is just the beginning. Next month, we’ll gather again for Sis, Let’s Talk: Feminine Health, creating another space for Black women to learn, share, and heal.
